Krista

Well, Hello there! My name is Krista.  Perhaps you are a homeschool newbie looking for encouragement and hope..... or you are a seasoned homeschooler.  Whatever the case I am glad you are here.  I have been homeschooling my oldest child, Katie, for about 3 years.  She is 6 and nearly 7!  My son Jacob was born last year.

My story goes like this; I was teaching elementary school loving my job!  Staying late everyday and bringing projects home was just the norm.  However, I couldn't wait to have my own kids one day.  After spending 3 years earning my Masters degree in Reading we started "trying" to have a baby.  To our surprise God had other plans.  We walked a lonely scary road called Infertility.  There was no medical condition, no reason, and no babies.  So we waited.  We prayed.  We cried.  And we waited some more.  After 6 months we conceived and miscarried.  Two and a half long years later we were blessed with a healthy pregnancy.  KATIE!!!! She was my miracle and my whole world.  After about 2 years, we started trying again.  Guess what?  Nothing happened.  It was such a difficult place to be.  We can't always understand why God has us where He has us or why, but HE has a grand plan.  After yet another long journey of infertility we were blessed with a second miracle!  JACOB!  What a joy and pleasure it is to have children.  He is a treasure and missing piece to our family.  God sure did a work in my heart through those last three and half years of waiting.

In the midst of all of this I dreamed of homeschooling.  Katie missed the cut off for public schools by 20 days due to her late September birthday.  However, Miss Katie started reading at the age of 4.  My decision to homeschool was solidified.  I knew as an educator what she needed and I knew she was ready.  Today she is excelling.  She has a curious mind and asks tons of questions.

Tapestry of Grace was tossed around by a dear friend of mine.  I was warned of the complexities of it and encouraged to investigate it for myself.  The more I dug into TOG the more I fell in love.  I love God.  I want my kids to know and love God too.  I can't think of a better way to teach history and the Bible.  I wish I had THIS education as a child.  Thankfully, I get to learn all this along side her.  I'm pretty sure I won't do it perfectly.  This is going to be an exciting year in our house and I just can't wait!  We kick off Year 1 on July 22nd!!!
